TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM)

Our licensed acupuncturists diagnose and treat patients using an array of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) techniques developed over thousands of years:

Acupuncture - Fine needles are artfully inserted at specific points along the body’s meridians to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.

Botanical Medicine - Botanical medicine is fundamental to the practice of TCM. See the dispensary page for more information.

Asian Body Work Therapy - Manual bodywork therapy includes acupressure, oriental massage, joint mobilization, stretching, and many specific techniques used to relieve stagnation in the body.

Moxibustion - Heat is applied by the burning of mugwort (Ai Ye) in several manners to specific acupuncture points.

Cupping - Specially designed “cups” create a suction-based force applied to specific areas of the body.

Gua Sha - A Gua Sha tool, which resembles a Chinese soup spoon, is rubbed lightly on the surface of the body.

7 Star Needling - With this therapy, 7 very fine and short needles, connected to a stem and a base, are tapped gently and rhythmically on the surface of the skin at specific points.

Nutritional Therapy - From bone broth to tumeric, many common foods provide proven benefits. Our practitioners are skilled at identifying and “prescribing” beneficial foods for specific conditions and overall wellness.

Diet and Lifestyle Counseling - Many conditions have their roots in diet and lifestyle. By incorporating healthy foods, activities, and mindsets, and avoiding unhealthy ones, we can maximize our bodies’ innate healing potential.

Qi Gong - This Qi cultivation practice, which incorporates specific movement and breathing techniques, is also a healing modality.

Collaboration - TCM has found its way into the collaborative care model, where TCM concepts and treatments are integrated with modern biomedicine. Our practitioners often collaborate with practiitioners of other modalities.
